The original series asked if robots deserve humanity. This one asks what happens when they try to live it, and discovers that safety and normalcy are luxuries a robot family can't actually afford. The action sequences have real weight because they're not about saving the world, they're about protecting a marriage and a kid from people who think both shouldn't exist. It's a sci-fi film that treats domestic life as the highest stakes possible.

Years have passed since Naomi Armitage and Ross Syllabus first met, and now they are raising a family and living an ordinary life. They still have to keep who they are hidden, because many people hold that robots should never stand as equals to humans. Ross gets a chance to overturn that view on Earth through a vote, but groups working in the shadows are set on making sure it fails. The result is a science fiction action film with mecha elements, built around prejudice, secrecy and a fight over robot rights.
