Hajime Hinobori has always dreamed of watching the spirits on his Battle Spirits cards come alive and fight. His scientist parents make that happen by creating an augmented reality battle system, and it transforms the competitive game, drawing players from around the globe. Hajime sets out with his friends, competes in tournaments and enters the Battle Spirits World Competition, aiming to become champion. Along the way he meets odd rivals such as the eccentric diva Kimari Tatsumi and the arrogant prodigy Tegamaru Tanashi. Dragons, demons, birds, insects and other spirits clash in card battles, and a new card type called Bursts joins the game. This action series is adapted from the trading card game.
