A 1993 OVA that treats a Mars invasion like a real military engagement, not a spectacle. Humanity's expansion into space hits a wall when an ancient alien civilization returns to stop it. These beings, referred to only as the Gods, have long observed mankind's progress, and now they mean to halt it by force. Mars, the terraformed colony named for the god of war, becomes the final battlefield. Humanity answers with its most advanced military hardware: cutting-edge aircraft, orbital fighters and colossal desert battleships packed with weapons. The Gods command overwhelming firepower of their own, including an unstoppable stealth carrier called Hell. Their deadliest weapon is silent and unseen, though: a contagious, incurable mind control plague that turns even loyal soldiers against their own side. Humanity's last hope is Captain Akuh and the crew of the battleship Aoba, whose secret mission could strike a decisive blow against the alien fleet. Then Akuh's girlfriend begins showing the first sign of alien infection.
