Aichi loses the deck that defined him the moment the stakes demand he matters most. The show understands that growth sometimes means burning what made you comfortable, forcing you to prove yourself all over again with unfamiliar tools in front of everyone who expects you to already be a champion. Gold Paladins feel like a betrayal at first, then like the only honest choice.

After winning the National Tournament, Aichi and his friends are ready to go their separate ways until a mysterious boy named Takuto Tatsunagi turns up. He tells them that the leaders of the Royal Paladins, Shadow Paladins and Kagero on the world of Cray have been captured. The only way to free Cray is for Vanguard fighters to wield a new power called Limit Break. With the Royal Paladins no longer able to fight, Aichi finds his deck transformed into Gold Paladins, full of units he has never seen, though everyone around him insists nothing has changed. To learn what is happening on Cray and rescue their old friends, the team must win the Vanguard VF Circuit in this action fantasy card battle series.
