The cards stop being metaphor and become literal weight in your hands. You're not fighting to win a tournament anymore, you're fighting to keep reality from collapsing, and the show knows exactly what that costs the people holding the deck. Akina moves from underdog kid into something heavier: a Mythisch Fighter who has to choose between the world that exists and the one the cards want to build instead. The series finally makes the card game the stakes, not the stage. By the time you understand what a Fantôme Fighter actually is, you're already complicit in their logic.

A strange phenomenon has appeared in Kaga, the town where Akina and his friends live: thick fog covers the streets and a huge tower looms over everything. This is the Fantasma. After wandering into it, the group finds its way barred by Fantôme Fighters, who set themselves against reality to defend what is fabricated. Standing against them are the Mythisch Fighters, special fighters picked by the cards to resist the Fantôme and protect what is real. The fifth season of Cardfight!! Vanguard: Divinez is an action fantasy adventure in which each fighter puts their very existence on the line.
