The three kids who fought together as TRY3 are now rivals watching each other from opposite sides of the field. Each one has to build something real on their own, not as backup for the guy next to them. That friction is the actual tournament, not the cards.

Three former teammates stand at a crossroads. Chrono, Shion, and Tokoha have grown beyond their days fighting together, each now attending different high schools and building their own squads of cardfighters. The members of Team TRY3 once played side by side, and now each of them is putting together a new team as a way of choosing their own future. That choice sets them on a collision course, because all three are headed for the U20 Championship, a large-scale tournament where they will face each other as rivals. This is the third season of the Cardfight!! Vanguard G series, a card battle story with action, adventure and fantasy elements.
