Shin-chan gets separated from his parents on a tropical island and has to actually lead a rescue mission instead of just being a chaos gremlin, which means watching a five-year-old fumble through genuine stakes while still being himself. The movie knows exactly when to let the comedy breathe and when to make you care whether he finds his mom and dad. A kid trying to save his family, armed with nothing but his stupidity and his heart.

Shin-chan's family sets out on a luxury cruise bound for a tropical island, a tour that includes an early screening of the new Action Kamen film. The trip falls apart when a huge band of monkeys overruns the ship. The animals seize every adult on board and carry them off to a nearby island, leaving the children behind. A flamboyant figure calling himself Paradise King commands the gibbons as his servants. With the grown-ups gone, Shin-chan and his friends set out to find and free them. Gotaro Go, the actor who plays Action Kamen, joins Shin-chan in facing Paradise King in both hand-to-hand combat and a battle in the air. The result is a feature-length mix of action, adventure and comedy.
