Renji watches Lily fail at a crane game over and over, then helps her win. The next day she texts "Be my valentine!" and suddenly he's stuck explaining Japanese romance to someone who speaks English like she learned it from a dubbing error. It's small, it's dumb, it's exactly what you want from a show about two people who have no business understanding each other but keep trying anyway.

Renji Kusakabe works at a game centre, and on Valentine's Day he spots Lily Baker, a young English girl, struggling for hours to win a plushie from a crane game. When she is close to giving up, he steps in and wins it for her as a gift for the day. Because of her cultural background, Lily takes the gesture as a confession of love, and the next day Renji gets a surprise message from her asking him to be her valentine. Lily keeps coming back to the arcade to see him, and the pair start passing a notebook back and forth to learn about each other and their cultures. A friendship built around games grows from there, but Lily wants more and vows to make Renji fall for her. The result is a romantic comedy about a misunderstanding that turns into cultural exchange.
