Aoba walks into Eagle Jump expecting anime magic, finds spreadsheets and texture files instead, and somehow that gap is the whole point. The show never patronizes her for not knowing anything, it just watches her figure it out, one small win at a time, surrounded by people too weird to pretend they have it together. Aoba Suzukaze just graduated high school and landed her dream job: character designer at Eagle Jump, the studio behind her favorite video games. Walking through those office doors on day one, she's eager but completely new to working life, and her first day is an awkward one. She soon learns she will work on Fairies Story 3, the next entry in the series she has loved since childhood, under lead character designer Kou Yagami. Her coworkers are a quirky bunch who share her passion for games, from the shy Hifumi Takimoto to the outspoken Yun Iijima and the energetic Hajime Shinoda of the motion team. Aoba has plenty of skills to master as the game takes shape, but her determination wins everyone over, and she quickly makes friends on the team. The result is a warm, funny slice-of-life comedy about the ups and downs of making games.
