Tokyo itself becomes the antagonist. A sorcerer doesn't just summon a demon, he weaponizes the city's own guardian spirit against it, turning the place into a breathing thing that wants to destroy itself. The OVA format lets this apocalyptic premise breathe in ways a compressed runtime never could, building genuine dread across four episodes that feel like watching a civilization slowly poison itself from within. Episode 3 alone justifies the whole thing. In early twentieth century Tokyo, at the close of the Meiji era, the city races toward a modern future. The sorcerer Yasunori Kato despises the metropolis and wants to see it ruined, so he uses dark arts to wake Masakato, the long dead legendary guardian of Tokyo. The Tatsumiya family ends up at the center of his schemes, and a band of occultists, scientists and children is drawn into a supernatural conflict spanning decades. The four-episode horror OVA also dwells on the devastation his spells bring to the city's ordinary residents.
