This is a TV special squeezed between two movies, built entirely to let three Saiyajins fight without anything resembling stakes or consequence. It exists because the animators wanted to draw more DBZ action, and the special exists entirely to satisfy that want. You get comedy, you get fights that go nowhere, you get the feeling of watching someone's fever dream of what Dragon Ball Z could be if plot mattered less than the next transformation sequence.
The Son family and their friends spend a calm afternoon shopping in West City until two strangers arrive and start wrecking the place. The pair are hunting Son Goku, and they strike the building where the family is eating. Angered that bystanders are being hurt because of him, Goku teams up with Trunks to draw the artificial humans away from the city. Afterward, Goku and Gohan return in white tuxedos to host a look back at scenes from earlier Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z films. Goku soon powers up to get back into his usual fighting clothes, while Gohan tries and fails to do the same. Aired on television between episodes 150 and 151, the special mixes action with comedy and promotes the theatrical release of Extreme Battle!! The Three Great Super Saiyans.
