Dragons hold the skies, yet people still long to fly and one day claim the heavens for themselves. Karl Schuniz is an eager young pilot who keeps chasing that hope even while war rages. He climbs into the Blitz Vogel, a groundbreaking steel-winged aircraft, to take on the Kaiser Drache, the quickest of all dragons and able to fly faster than sound. The film is a fantasy about the drive to fly.
