This movie exists to let you watch these boys just be happy together in New York, no world-ending stakes or narrative machinery required. The screenplay does almost nothing with its premise, which somehow makes it work, there's no plot getting in the way of watching friendships breathe. You came for the characters you already love, and the movie knows exactly what you need from it.

Ensemble Square is a new building in the heart of the city, home to four offices whose idols spend their days singing and dancing. Three films starring these idols have been nominated at the Idol Film Festival, a yearly event in New York City, so chosen representatives fly out to attend the ceremony and the reception party. Once the formalities are over, the boys set out to see the city's sights. Their trip is not quite what it seems, though: a suspicious presence is closing in on them, and the idols have to work out what hidden force is behind it. The movie is a direct sequel to the anime series, mixing music with slice-of-life moments.
