A spirit falls in love with a human knowing they will watch them die, then spend centuries waiting for their rebirth and trying to make them remember. The Fox Spirit Matchmakers exist to solve this one impossible problem: how do you love someone who doesn't remember you anymore. The show treats this as tragedy and comedy at once, because that's what it actually is, a spirit's eternal heartbreak is also the setup for the most ridiculous, tender reunions on television.

Spirits live far longer than humans, and when a spirit's beloved dies, reincarnation erases that person's memories of their past life. Many spirits are left outliving the humans they love. Word is spreading among spirits of a service offered by the fox spirit matchmakers, who can bring back a reborn lover's lost memories so the couple can begin their romance again. The story centers on a young fox spirit matchmaker who works hard to restore those memories and spread love. The series mixes comedy, romance and the supernatural across 24 episodes, and it is the Japanese broadcast version of a Chinese series.
