This thing dares you to keep watching, and that's the whole appeal. Twenty-odd minutes split into two stories that share nothing but a budget: Chiffon, the celebrated monster trainer who can't control monsters anymore, hauling his lumbering Hiyokomushi back to its birthplace until the thing goes berserk, then a hard cut to Roze, the half-demon whose sister is threatened by people terrified of what she is. The Pokemon riff in the first half actually has a decent idea buried in it, a trainer who lost the one skill that defined him. Roze gets the better character design, and somebody on staff clearly cared about the loom sequence, because the weaving animation is more accurate than anything else on screen. Everything around those two flickers of effort is recycled, stiff, and cheap. You watch it to say you did, and to have a data point for how a game promo goes wrong.

In Neverland, humans and monsters share the same world. This short fantasy OVA serves as a prologue to the first Generation of Chaos RPG and tells two separate stories. In the first, Chiffon is a well-known monster trainer whose ability to control monsters is fading. He sets out to take his Hiyokomushi, a big, slow, fish-like companion he rides, back to its birthplace in Hiyoko Forest. His hold over the creature keeps slipping along the way, until it breaks loose and he needs help to stop it. In the second, Roze, a half-demon, lives quietly among humans with her sister Emilia. She comes home from work to find her house on fire. Now she faces the danger of losing her sister to people who fear them, and her hope that demons and humans can live together is badly shaken.
