Nobody remembers this one, and that's a shame because the 2002 OVA actually commits to something most fantasy shows won't: it slows down enough to let you feel the weight of training, the quiet moments between a grandfather and his granddaughter, the deliberate pacing that makes each sword stroke matter. The animation carries scenes that would collapse under dialogue in other shows. It's a two-episode commitment that respects your time by refusing to hurry, building something meditative out of magic academy combat that most studios would turn into filler.

Myu travels to Varanoir, a magic university whose students train for war against the devil master. Her grandfather Jii was once a great swordsman who taught her many sword fighting skills, though he now works as a chimney cleaner in Varanoir. Myu goes there to train as a fighter and meets Ryuto, a talented student who regards her as a rival. The two-episode fantasy action OVA is based on a PlayStation 2 game of the same title.
