Pipe cleaner characters hosting speed dates with rotating guest stars sounds disposable until you realize the entire show is built on the comedy of two deeply unhinged women trying to make small talk with celebrities who have no idea what they've walked into. The surrealism isn't loud or tryhard, it just lives in the space between awkward silence and whoever decides to lean into the bit. Watch this if you want comedy that respects your intelligence enough to let you sit in the weird.

Brightly colored mascots built from pipe cleaners and animated in stop motion fill this short comedy. The title draws on the Japanese word aiseki, which describes sharing a restaurant table with someone you do not know. At a table in the Mogol Cafe, Fuyumi and Haruko trade banter with a rotating lineup of male guest voice actors. The 12 short episodes, aired in 2017, deliver surreal, laid-back comedy.
