Nobody expects the serious gold-rush-and-murder show to be this funny, but the shorts prove the cast works better when they're just existing together without the plot trying to kill them. These aren't filler, they're the manga's actual jokes finally animated, the stuff that made readers laugh between chapters. Watch them if you want to see Sugimoto actually lose a staring contest or watch grown men argue about the dumbest things with complete seriousness. The chemistry between characters hits harder when there's nothing to solve, just personalities colliding. You'll finish these faster than you expect and want more.

Golden Douga Gekijou is a collection of short comedy episodes built around the characters of Golden Kamuy. Rather than following a single storyline, each brief segment places the familiar cast in a lighthearted, humorous situation, and several of the shorts are drawn straight from the bonus omake pages of the original manga. The shorts were released online, streaming through the official website as well as YouTube.
