The animation finally matches what Grisaia's action sequences always deserved. Two episodes isn't enough to let these new operatives breathe, but what's here moves with a precision and visual clarity that makes every confrontation feel earned rather than explained. If you loved the original cast's operational efficiency, this is watching SORD actually function like the lethal machine it was always supposed to be.
After the Heath Oslo incident, the public learns of CIRS, a joint US and Japanese counterterrorism body. CIRS is rebuilt from scratch, and its most secret work passes to a new agency called SORD, which aims to prepare a fresh generation of operatives to protect the nation. To do so, SORD sets up specialist schools across the country. One of them is Mihama Academy, which had been left to decay after closing suddenly. Its new students are a mixed group of misfit girls who sharpen unusual talents every day, sometimes in the field. The academy hands them firearms and live rounds and sends them, heedless of their own safety, on one dangerous extrajudicial mission after another. The result is an action story about girls who have picked a life lived by the gun.
