Karasuno High's story continues in the second theatrical film of Haikyuu!! FINAL, a direct sequel to The Dumpster Battle. That earlier film pitted Karasuno against their rivals Nekoma High at the Spring Nationals, a long-awaited showdown between two underdog teams. Picking up after that film, the movie brings together volleyball drama and comedy.
