A human walks into a demon tournament to become the new Demon King, smiling the whole way. Everyone assumes he's there to destroy them from the inside. Helck doesn't ask you to choose between laughing at goofy tournament moments and crying at what's really being built beneath them. A human hero named Helck enters the demon world's tournament to choose a new Demon King after the old one fell to a hero. Vermilio, one of the Four Heavenly Kings and the one overseeing the contest, is furious and deeply suspicious, since humans are supposed to be the enemy. Helck claims to hate humanity, and his strength and popularity make him hard to get rid of. When word comes before the final that Urum Castle has fallen, Vermilio leads Helck and the other finalists to take it back. Helck smiles and talks of wiping out humans, but whether he means it is the central question, especially as humans begin disappearing from towns. The series blends action, adventure, comedy and drama in a fantasy setting.
