Nobody expects a Thumbelina retelling to feel this small and right. Hello Kitty's version strips away the noise, no grand battles, no overwrought emotions, and finds something quieter in a story about a girl the world keeps trying to minimize. The movie lets you sit with that, lets you watch her refuse to disappear. It's a fairy tale that remembers what makes fairy tales actually work: a person finding their own way out, one careful step at a time.

Kitty White takes the lead role in this animated retelling of Thumbelina. The 1990 theatrical film belongs to Sanrio's Anime Festival line of movie releases, and it was shown alongside Kero Kero Keroppi no Daibouken and Pokopon no Yukai na Saiyuuki. It pairs adventure and fantasy, casting the Hello Kitty star in a classic fairy tale.
