Natsuki Sasahara is a half cat-beast bounty hunter in a Tokyo where policing got privatized and monsters and humans share the same crowded, litigious streets, and every collar she makes gets eaten alive by the property damage she causes bringing it in. Her lightning magic is the running joke and the running tragedy: she can absolutely fry a perp, she just cannot do it without leveling the block and watching the repair bill come out of her cut. Batanen is a werewolf who would take a bullet for her and cannot get four words out about how he feels, while Tommy runs cover and Sakura, the nine-tailed fox who smiles the widest, is patiently waiting to devour Natsuki for that last tail. It is a workplace comedy where the coworker plotting to eat you still shows up for lunch. You stay for the paycheck math and the fact that nobody in this office can say what they mean.

Sasahara Natsuki is a poor bounty hunter in a world where monsters and humans share society. Humans are protected by law from their usually stronger monster neighbors, and most of her jobs involve monsters who violate human rights. As half human and half cat-beast, Natsuki belongs to both communities and tries to understand and respect each side while upholding the law. Helping her are Batanen, a werewolf who loves her but is afraid to say so, and Tommy, another werewolf. Also on the team is Sakura, a kyubi fox demon with an agenda of her own: she means to eat Natsuki to complete her nine tails and, with them, her magical power.
