A boy born into a body the world wants hidden discovers he can move like nothing else exists. A blind musician finds his voice amplified through someone who finally understands what his music means. Masaaki Yuasa builds a love story entirely through dance and sound, where every movement and every note does the narrative work your brain expects words to do. The animation doesn't just accompany the music, it is the music, made visible. This film costs you nothing to rewatch and rewards it every time.

A boy born cursed finds his voice through movement. Wrapped head to toe in concealing garments, Inu-Oh has spent his life hidden away, his peculiar form deemed too strange for the world. Everything changes when he encounters Tomona, a blind biwa player whose fingers dance across strings with hypnotic precision. The moment Tomona begins to play, something awakens in Inu-Oh. His body moves with a grace that defies explanation, translating music into motion with supernatural fluidity. What starts as a chance meeting becomes an inseparable bond. Together they take to the stage, and their shows soon earn praise and pull in ever larger audiences in 14th-century Japan. But their connection runs deeper than artistry. Tomona's blindness hides its own mystery, and Inu-Oh's appearance conceals a truth neither boy fully understands. Beneath the spectacle of their collaborative genius lies a question neither can ignore: what binds these two outcasts together, and what price must they pay for their art?
