The whole thing runs on the dumbest possible premise: Serina is one bad grade from flunking out of MaiMai, hears a rumor that a killer school festival set earns extra credit, and immediately forms a band about it. What follows is Aliciana, Nazuna, Nagi and Naru getting dragged along into rehearsals and sleepovers at a school stuffed with the country's most talented musicians, where nobody is actually a prodigy at being a person yet. Eight episodes, short runtime, zero heavy themes, no tragic backstory waiting to ambush you. Just five girls, a deadline nobody verified, and the specific joy of watching a scheme built on hearsay turn into something they actually care about.

Serina Akesaka is a first-year at Maigahara Senior High, a music school that draws some of the most promising young musicians in the country, and her grades put her at risk of failing. Word goes around campus that a great performance at the school festival will earn extra credit. Serina takes the rumor at face value and starts a band with four other students: Nazuna Tennouzu, Aliciana Ogata, Naru Hakobe and Nagi Kobotoke. The five girls play music together, have sleepovers and even try cosplay, all while working toward a festival set good enough to earn that credit. Short episodes follow the everyday life of a relaxed girls' band, based on a group from Sega's rhythm game Chunithm.
