This is a show that only works because you've already watched the other shows, and it knows it. The joke isn't the crossover itself, it's watching Albedo try to seduce Subaru while Kazuma steals from everyone and Tanya calculates the most efficient way to ruin someone's day, all in the same classroom. Season 2 adds the Shield Hero crew and immediately understands what makes this chaos land: four different anime's worth of conflicting personalities crammed into one place, playing by school rules that none of them respect. If you came for cameos, you'll stay for the comedy that only works if you've felt the specific tone of each show it's pulling from. The crossovers are the setup. The characters grinding against each other is the punchline.

Characters from Re:Zero, Overlord, KonoSuba and Saga of Tanya the Evil are still stuck together as students in Class 2, even after finishing every task they were set, with no way back to their own worlds. This season the Shield Hero joins them as a new transfer student, bringing Raphtalia and Filo along. The oddball classmates are growing fond of one another, so more time at school does not seem so bad. The result is a comedy of short episodes about a strange but laid-back school life, with the crossover cast drawn in a cute, super-deformed style.
