Isuca: Gokuraku picks up where the series left off: Sakuya and Shinichirou in close quarters, creatures as an excuse, and that pastel color palette making everything feel somehow both cute and unsettling at once. The OVA doesn't pretend to be anything other than what the ten-episode run already proved it was good at. One episode means no filler, just the formula distilled to its purest form, housekeeping, exorcism, fanservice, and the visual restraint that made the original work despite itself.
Shinichirou Asano, Sakuya Shimazu and their friends travel to a private island owned by the Shimazu family for a holiday. The trip begins as a carefree getaway, but events turn supernatural once the group ventures into the island's forest. One by one their companions disappear without explanation, until Shinichirou and Sakuya are left by themselves on an island where no one else seems to live. Sakuya leads the Shimazu family as its 37th head, a role that involves driving out troublesome creatures. This single-episode OVA mixes comedy, ecchi and supernatural elements, and it came packaged with the seventh volume of the manga.
