This movie exists to prove that raw animation and sound design can carry a story you've seen a hundred times before. Mappa doesn't just animate the fights, they build them like symphonies, every frame synced to the OST so perfectly that you forget you're watching a generic "save the cursed girl" plot. By the time Yuta breaks, you're not thinking about how familiar the beats are anymore.

Yuta Okkotsu is a timid 16-year-old high school student who is bullied, and violent misfortune follows him everywhere. His childhood friend Rika Orimoto has become a monstrous curse that clings to him and lashes out brutally at anyone who harms him. Satoru Gojo, a powerful sorcerer who teaches at Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, notices Yuta's unusual situation and sees great potential in him. Gojo persuades him to enroll at the school, where young exorcists learn to fight curses, hoping Yuta can turn his lethal burden into a force for good. Yuta struggles to fit in among his gifted first-year classmates: the selectively mute Toge Inumaki, weapons expert Maki Zenin, and Panda. As he awkwardly calls on Rika during missions, the destruction she leaves behind draws the attention of the calculating curse user Suguru Getou, who wants her power for a plan to wipe out everyone who cannot use jujutsu. Yuta must fight beside his friends to stop him in this supernatural action film.
