A band forms because five broken people need each other more than they need to succeed. Watch them destroy each other over jealousy, ambition, and the simple fact that staying together costs more than any of them wants to pay. The music industry doesn't care about your dreams, your talent, or how badly you need this. Kaikan Phrase knows that too. It doesn't pretend a good song fixes anything. What it shows instead is Sakuya, Yuki, Santa, Towa, and Atsuro learning that the only reason to keep playing is because walking away hurts worse than staying.

After their old band breaks up, guitarist Yuki and drummer Santa set out to build a new one. They bring in bassist Towa and young guitarist Atsuro, and after a lot of coaxing they win over vocalist Sakuya. As Lucifer, the five fight to break into the music business while trying to keep the group intact. Along the way they face personal troubles, from parents who disapprove to the sting of seeing their former bands find success first. Sakuya carries the heaviest burden, weighed down by a tragic past and by his relationship with Aine, a teenage lyricist. The result is a romantic music drama about ambition, friendship and the cost of chasing a dream.
