Nobody expects a Gundam comedy to actually work. Gundam-san takes the entire franchise, the melodrama, the mobile suit porn, the dead-serious lore, and demolishes it with rapid-fire absurdism that only lands because the show respects what it's mocking. You're watching characters from the original series react to their own ridiculous plot with the kind of deadpan confusion a real person would have if they woke up inside a giant robot anime. The jokes move at smartphone speed, which means you either catch the rhythm or you don't. If you do, this becomes the most honest thing the franchise has ever made about itself.
Unbroadcast episodes of Kidou Senshi Gundam-san distributed on the smartphone app "Gundam Channel".
