Jiro's been alone so long that meeting Rieko and Akira doesn't feel like a new story, it feels like he finally gets to stop wandering. The soundtrack carries emotional weight that the script sometimes fumbles, turning quiet moments between characters into the real heart of this thing. By episode two you know the narrative won't hold, but the animation and that score keep you watching anyway, which is its own kind of honesty.

Since the fall of the DARK organization, Jiro has drifted from place to place, wondering whether he will ever see Mitsuko again. On the road he meets Rieko, a beautiful girl who is shielding a small boy named Akira from the villainous Professor Gill. Akira is Gill's own son, and he also holds the key to Gill's secret weapon and his plan to conquer the world. The story runs across four OVA episodes and mixes mecha action and adventure with science fiction drama.
