A kitten scribbles on a wall and somehow that's enough. Yasuji Mori doesn't need conflict or stakes or a three-act structure, he needs seven minutes and a creature doing what creatures do, and that becomes the whole point. You watch something so small and ordinary turn into the thing you needed to see.

Yasuji Mori directed this 1957 comedy short about a young kitten who delights in drawing pictures on a school wall. When his pencil is stolen, he has to enter the world of his own drawings to get it back. In daydreams tinged with guilt, the scribbles come to life and lead him through a series of adventures: trains of graffiti that run out of control, traffic snarled with scrawled lines, and a troop of mice drifting inside bubbles.
