This is the ending you didn't get, played over footage you already know by heart. BONES held onto alternate audio recorded during the original run, then in 2012 cut it against the existing animation from episode 48 onward and let it air for the first time, so every frame is familiar and every line lands somewhere else. Instead of the closure you memorized, Eureka is sent off to scatter seven pieces and Renton has to live with that, which retroactively bends the whole Nirvash arc into something lonelier. It's a strange, uncomfortable artifact: not a remake, not a recap, just the road the staff almost took, sitting there in the same footage. If you cried at the moon at the end of the TV series, this one is going to sit in your chest sideways. Watch it once, then argue about which ending is real for the next decade.
