A girl buys a folding bike on impulse and stumbles into the most wholesome sports anime about five college students who have no business being a cycling team. The show never pretends they're special or destined for anything, they're just people who showed up, liked each other, and decided to ride 200 kilometers together. By the time they actually do it, you're pedaling with them.
Ami Kurata is a totally average college freshman until she spots someone riding a folding bike and becomes instantly obsessed. After dropping her savings on one, she discovers the underground world of long-distance cycling and realizes she's found her people. She recruits four other girls from campus with wildly different personalities and circumstances, and together they form Fortuna, a cycling team bound by the simple dream of completing a brutal 1,200-kilometer race called Fresh. What follows is part comedy, part genuine sports drama, all heart. These five are not natural athletes. They're broke, they're clumsy, they have jobs and family drama and zero experience pushing their bodies to these limits. Watching them train, bonding over sore muscles and terrible pit stops, gradually becoming stronger both physically and as a unit, creates something surprisingly moving beneath all the gags. The show captures the specific joy of finding your people and chasing something ridiculous together. It's low-stakes in the best way: nobody's fighting for glory or sponsorships. They just want to ride across Japan.
