Millie's arrogance gets humbled by actual competence the moment she steps off her planet, and the show never lets her forget it. Kane treats her desperation to be the best as a character flaw worth mocking, not a quirk to indulge. By episode 12, you realize the three of them are all running from something, and the comedy stops being the point, it becomes the thing they hide behind.

Millie Nocturne has a single ambition: to be the best in the universe at absolutely everything. When she decides to become the best detective, she ends up an unwilling partner to two companions who will change her life. Kane Blueriver wields a psi-blade and commands the starship Swordbreaker, while Canal is the sharp-tongued hologram of the ship's computer. The mismatched trio travels through space, going up against intergalactic crime lords, rogue starships and even hijackers in chicken costumes. Across 26 episodes, the series mixes sci-fi adventure with comedy and drama.
