Six months after the Jewel Seed incident, Fate Testarossa has come back to Uminari City with Lindy Harlaown as her guardian and now goes to elementary school alongside Nanoha Takamachi. Their reunion is interrupted when four ancient mages calling themselves the Wolkenritter attack the pair. The attackers drain their mana into a sinister grimoire and damage Raising Heart and Bardiche. The Wolkenritter serve the Book of Darkness, whose young owner, Hayate Yagami, does not know what it really is. Weakened and without their devices, Nanoha and Fate must regain their strength and stop the book from being completed before its destructive power is released. The film is the sequel to the first Nanoha movie and mixes magical girl action with science fiction and drama.
