A romantic comedy that keeps pulling the rug out from under what you think the show is about. Ryuushi arrives expecting a simple crush narrative, but every character, especially Kozue, has depths that rewrite the entire premise as you're watching it. The humor never stops, the heart never feels cheap, and by the end you realize the real story was always about people who don't fit anywhere else finding home in the same broken house.

Shiratori Ryuushi dreams of writing picture books, so he moves to Tokyo to attend art school and takes a room at Narutakisou, an old one-story Japanese house that looks out of place among the city buildings. The residents are an eccentric bunch who quickly make the newcomer the center of their attention, including a man who lives with a puppet named Johnny. Ryuushi also falls for the lovely landlady, Aoba Kozue, a high school girl and his second cousin whom he barely remembers from childhood. Kozue turns out to be the strangest of them all: whenever something shocks her, her personality changes. A romantic comedy with dramatic touches, set around the daily life of an unusual boarding house.
