Eight-minute chunks, Hideki Owada's 4-koma panel rhythm left fully intact, and every legend of the One Year War demoted to a guy with a "-san" stapled to his name. Char-san is still the best joke in the room, because the mask and the ego survive the translation to gag comedy completely unharmed, and Bright-san's whole personality remains "the hand." Nothing is at stake, nobody grows, the art is deliberately cheap, and that is the entire point: the Federation and Zeon reduced to office-comedy energy in the space of a punchline. You need the original in your bones for this to land, which is exactly why it does. Watch it the week after a full 0079 rewatch and it plays like your friend group's group chat about it.

Mobile Suit Gundam-san is a short comedy series adapted from a four-panel gag manga that parodies the original Mobile Suit Gundam, with most of that show's cast turning up in brief comic strips. Captain Zaku-san turns the mobile suits of the original series into human-like characters, and Gundam Sousei offers a dramatized take on how the Gundam franchise was created, featuring Yoshiyuki Tomino along with other staff and cast members.
