A boy and his buffalo exist in perfect quiet until the dream breaks it. The flute isn't a magical fix, it's the language they already speak together, and watching him play it back into trust is the entire film. Animation this deliberately beautiful only shows up when the story trusts you to sit still with it.

A young boy who herds cattle has a remarkable talent for playing the flute, and his constant companion is a loyal water buffalo. He dreams that the buffalo is lost to him. When the buffalo settles into a hiding spot and will not budge, the boy turns to his flute and plays a melody to draw his friend back. The film centers on music and on the bond between the boy and his animal companion.
