The animation doesn't just look better than the original, it moves like the show finally has the budget its chaos deserves. Every joke lands with the timing of a sniper because the writing trusts you to keep up, not explain itself. The soundtrack doesn't score the show; it is half the show, a perfect partner to stupidity that knows exactly how funny it is. Shorter episodes mean less room for plot depth, but more room for the thing that always mattered: watching two fallen angels rip through the sky in a blaze of neon and profanity.

Daten City sits in the murky space between heaven and hell, where spirits called Ghosts prowl the streets and feed on human desire and resentment. Panty and Stocking Anarchy, fallen angel sisters, wipe these beings out with a divine light no human can grasp, under the watch of Garterbelt, the priest in charge of them. A failed attempt to open the Hell Gate has left the city with even more Ghosts to exorcize. The sisters now hunt alongside their old rivals Scanty and Kneesocks Demon, who need Hell Coins to get back to Hell and are staying at Garterbelt's church. The two opposing pairs must put their differences aside to gather enough Heaven and Hell Coins to return to their own realms. Meanwhile a question hangs over the angels: are they really messengers of God, or agents of the Devil? The series mixes supernatural action with ecchi comedy.
