This is a show that takes the premise of ninja-powered gum completely seriously. The action choreography doesn't apologize for its toy-commercial origins, it leans into absurdity and makes it work through sheer commitment to the bit. You watch kids transform gum into weapons with the same matter-of-fact tone a better show would use for ancient bloodline awakening, and that tonal confidence becomes the entire appeal. The WNA framing gives it just enough structure to land the comedy without collapsing into parody. This is pure Saturday morning energy rebuilt as a real anime, which means it knows exactly what it is and refuses to wink at the camera.

The story is set in the year 20XX. Ninjas once helped shape Japanese history, but the Meiji Restoration dispersed them around the country, and over time their blood grew diluted as they blended with other clans until they all but vanished. Hoping to keep their heritage alive, the descendants of those clans established the World Ninja Association, or WNA. The group went on to create Ninja-Gum, a technique able to draw out the power of the shinobi. Making the most potent Ninja-Gum, however, calls for the finest ninja DNA, so the WNA stages the Ninjala Tournament to discover the strongest ninja of all. The TV series mixes action and comedy with a science fiction setting.
