An early 20th-century author so broken he's already decided to die gets dragged into an isekai and immediately becomes its worst nightmare: a man who won't pretend the adventure matters. The show doesn't care about XP systems or saving the world. It cares about why people want to live when living hurts, and whether helping someone else survive can be reason enough. Osamu Dazai, a gloomy author from the early 20th century, is about to die by double suicide with his lover Sacchan when a truck hits him and carries him off to another world in 1948. Problem is, Osamu doesn't want an adventure. He wants a quiet, poetic place to die. The local priestess Annette names him an adventurer and gives him the job of slaying the demon king, but he would rather search for Sacchan. Along the way he rescues the martial artist Tama, who repays him by becoming his escort, and Annette, charmed by his personality, vows to keep him alive. Every attempt at a poetic end gets ruined by heroics he never asked for, and everything keeps working out no matter how much he risks. As the trio crosses monster-filled lands, they begin to suspect that people may be the real danger, and that Osamu may be the one able to stop them. Expect a comedy fantasy with touches of romance and slice of life.
