A beach festival where Pokemon run the whole show, and Pikachu gets to be the hero of his own rescue mission instead of backing up Ash. The comedy lives in the absurdity of Pokemon playing every role at once: shopkeepers, performers, comedians, detectives. By the time you realize this special has no human characters getting in the way, you're already invested in whether Pikachu actually pulls off saving the concert.

Summer has come, and Pokemon set up shops for a festival on the beach. Pikachu, Plusle and Minun help get everything ready. The pop idol Azumarill is due to sing that night, but a Skarmory swoops in and carries her off, leaving the festival without its star. Pikachu joins Plusle, Minun, Meowth, Wobbuffet and several other Pokemon to track her down so the show can go on. A one-episode special from 2004, it mixes adventure, comedy and fantasy, and it was shown on ANA domestic flights in August of that year.
