Anime Like Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys
A kid traumatized by Pokémon four years ago has to watch the sky break open and two gods fight directly above his home. LaRousse becomes a neon cathedral for CGI spectacle that actually justifies itself, Deoxys transforming mid-battle, Rayquaza cutting through clouds in real space, a city designed so the animation can destroy it meaningfully. The plot is thin, but the movie knows exactly what it wants: to make you feel the scale of something genuinely alien and celestial, then force a scared kid to stand in it anyway.
SYNOPSIS
Ash arrives in the futuristic city of LaRousse only to discover it's under siege by Deoxys, an alien Pokémon whose sudden reappearance has thrown the entire region into chaos. A mysterious barrier traps the city while people vanish without explanation, and panic spreads through the streets. Meeting Tooi, a boy haunted by his own traumatic encounter with Pokémon years ago, Ash realizes this crisis cuts deeper than a simple monster attack. As Deoxys' presence intensifies, another force emerges from the atmosphere: Rayquaza, a legendary dragon-type Pokémon drawn to the conflict. Caught between two incomprehensibly powerful beings, Ash and his friends must navigate a city on the brink of collapse while confronting why Deoxys has come to Earth. The boy's fear of Pokémon becomes central to understanding what's really happening. Spectacular action sequences blend with character-driven moments as alliances form and motivations unravel in this high-stakes adventure that questions whether these cosmic forces can be defeated, or if understanding them is the only path forward.
