A kid traumatized by Pokémon four years ago has to watch the sky break open and two gods fight directly above his home. LaRousse becomes a neon cathedral for CGI spectacle that actually justifies itself, Deoxys transforming mid-battle, Rayquaza cutting through clouds in real space, a city designed so the animation can destroy it meaningfully. The plot is thin, but the movie knows exactly what it wants: to make you feel the scale of something genuinely alien and celestial, then force a scared kid to stand in it anyway.

Satoshi and his friends visit LaRousse, a technologically advanced city known for its famous Battle Tower. Satoshi hurries there for a match, but his assigned partner is Tooi, a boy who fears every Pokémon because of a frightening incident four years earlier. Then Deoxys, a Pokémon from space, returns, seals the city inside a barrier, shuts down its machines and captures its people. The legendary Rayquaza, which lives in the atmosphere, comes to drive the intruder out, leaving Satoshi, Tooi and their friends caught between the two in a movie that mixes action, adventure and comedy.
