Pikachu rounds up a bunch of weak Pokémon and teaches them to fight back against Team Rocket occupying their island. It's a 22-minute story about underdogs learning they're stronger together than they are alone. The whole thing moves fast enough that you don't notice it's basically a training montage wrapped in a beach adventure, and by the end you're rooting for Wynaut's crew like they matter.

Pikachu and the other Pokémon are spending time at the beach when a weakened Wynaut comes to them for help. Wynaut explains that Meowth, joined by the other Team Rocket Pokémon plus an Exploud and a Hariyama, attacked its friends because Meowth wanted their playground on a nearby island for itself. After hearing the story, Pikachu and the others decide to help win the playground back. They begin training Wynaut's friends so the island can be freed from Meowth's grip. The result is a short adventure comedy special with a fantasy flavor, built around helping others stand up for their home.
