Kyurem's arrival feels genuinely threatening in a way most Pokémon movies don't bother with, even if the plot that surrounds it plays it safe. The Swords of Justice quartet finally get their moment to matter, and watching Keldeo grow a backbone against legendary odds carries more weight than a kid and his mouse usually earn. This is a movie that knows exactly what it is: a beautifully animated excuse to watch mythical creatures clash, and it doesn't waste time pretending to be anything else.

Keldeo, a Mythical Pokémon, longs to join the Swords of Justice, a band of Pokémon who roam the world helping those in need. To earn a place, he must master the power of his horn and learn Sacred Sword, so he challenges Kyurem, a Legendary Dragon living in an abandoned mine within an icy crater. His confidence fades as he realizes he is not ready. While traveling through Unova, Satoshi and his friends come across the injured Keldeo. Meanwhile, Kyurem rampages, draining energy from other Legendary Pokémon and upsetting the balance of power across the region. With his new friends behind him, Keldeo must overcome his weaknesses and face Kyurem again. The 15th Pokémon film mixes action, adventure, comedy and fantasy, and features Kyurem alongside its Black and White formes, plus Cobalion, Terrakion and Virizion.
