A chair sits in a room. Over a few minutes, noitaminA reminds you that the smallest objects hold the weight of every hand that's ever touched them. The animation moves like memory, quiet and precise, and by the end you understand why someone would keep something broken instead of throwing it away.
Paulette spends her days alone in a countryside back yard, playing with her doll under a tall tree and quietly watching other children have fun without her. Then the small wooden chair she sits on starts to move, bucking like a wild horse and carrying her off on wild rides that help her get past her shyness. From then on the chair is her constant companion as she grows up. Made as a short comedic slice-of-life ONA in 2014, the single episode was produced to mark the 10th anniversary of noitaminA.
