Takumi just wants to be left alone with his alchemy, and the show respects that so completely it becomes funny. Every problem solves itself not through battle heroics but through him casually crafting something ridiculous, watching everyone else scramble to catch up. The cast actually likes him for who he is, not despite it, which is why a harem built on genuine friendship hits different from the usual desperation.

Takumi Iruma is no hero, but he gets swept up by accident when a group of chosen heroes is summoned to another world. To make up for the error, a goddess lets him pick any skill he likes. Wanting a calm life far from fighting, he settles on alchemy, a creation skill that seems dull. It turns out to be the strongest skill there is, able to produce anything from a holy sword to flying ships. With a younger body and a fresh start, he makes a home in a village, tries out his abilities and even tames an unusual pet, before moving to a big city to sharpen his craft and grow his business. His unexpected power makes him a rich merchant and unbeatable in battle, in a warm fantasy adventure.
