The five idiots are back, and this time the show trusts you enough to know exactly what you signed up for. Prison School commits so hard to its own absurdity that the fanservice becomes secondary to watching these five flavors of stupidity collide with whatever chaos the "Mad Wax" arc throws at them. J.C.Staff animates a single comedic reaction shot with more craft than most shows spend on their climax, and that devotion to the bit is what makes this work.
Hachimitsu Private Academy's five boys are out of their prison and back to ordinary school life among the girls, and for most of them things are going well. Kiyoshi Fujino and Shingo Wakamoto have grown close to female classmates, Reiji Andou draws attention for his masochism, and Gakuto Morokuzu makes friends with the clumsy, like-minded Mitsuko Yokoyama. Joe Nezu is the exception: he cannot settle back in, Gakuto's surprising luck in love drives him to breaking point, and, feeling shut out, he starts to wonder whether prison was better. The single OVA adapts the manga's previously unanimated "Mad Wax" arc and came bundled with the 20th volume, mixing comedy, ecchi and romance.
