SYNOPSIS
Rennyo, a Buddhist monk in 15th century Japan, inherits leadership of the Hongaku-ji temple during a period of spiritual and political turbulence. Facing a denomination fractured by internal strife and external pressures, he must choose between rigid tradition and revolutionary reform to keep his faith alive. As he travels across a war-torn landscape, Rennyo encounters suffering believers, hostile warlords, and his own doubts about whether salvation can exist amid such darkness. His journey becomes a meditation on conviction: what it means to hold fast to spiritual principles when the world demands compromise, and whether a single person's faith can transform an entire movement.
